I'm Tom Wiens, a long-time resident and businessman in Douglas County, and I'm running to represent District 2 on the Home Rule Charter Commission.

With over 30 years of experience owning and operating businesses in our county, I understand the challenges and opportunities that our families and small businesses encounter daily.

My tenure in the Colorado State Legislature, serving both in the House and Senate, has equipped me with a deep understanding of the law and the intricacies of effective governance.

I believe that our county's future should be determined by those who live and work here, not by distant Denver mandates. By participating in the Home Rule process, we can ensure that our local values are upheld, our communities are protected, and our governance reflects the unique character of Douglas County.

I respectfully ask for your vote on June 24th to serve on the Home Rule Charter Commission. Together, we can craft a charter that embodies our shared vision and secures a prosperous future for all residents.

“The truth is, it’s gotten more and more obvious that our state government (in Denver) is out of touch and is overreaching and effecting the daily lives of people in Douglas County in ways that were not originally intended. That is why in 1970, the Colorado constitution was amended to allow for municipalities to adopt Home Rule. In fact, 104 local governments throughout the state (including cities in Douglas County) have done just that.” - Tom Wiens
